Sea Glass Colour Studies (no7)
Original Painting
Watercolour paint and pencil on watercolour paper.
Paper Size: 10.5cms x 14.8 cms (A6)
During our last holiday in Tassie to visit family and friends, we were fortunate to spend some wonderful time by the beach. It was pure heaven. One of my favourite pastimes at the beach is collecting shells and bits of sea glass that wash ashore. The colours of these treasures were so beautiful that I couldn’t bear to discard them. Instead, I made a wind chime using the shells, driftwood, and pieces of fishing line I found wedged between rocks near our beach house.
Once back home in London, I had lots of fun experimenting with sewing and adding pearlescent paint to replicate the beautiful translucent and opaque qualities of the sea glass.
